Winsted Restaurant Burglarized

WINSTED — A burglary was reported at the Winsted Diner on Main Street to the Winsted Police Department on Wednesday. The break-in took place sometime between Monday and Wedneday morning; the diner was closed all day Tuesday.

"It’s so upseting," said owner Jean Bauer. "Thank God, it could have been a lot worse. They could have destroyed the place and I wouldn’t have been able to operate."

Bauer reopened the diner this summer after fixing up the restaurant. Formerly owned by Robert Radocchio, the diner was gutted by a fire two years ago.

The only thing reported taken was cash from a register located inside the building. While the amount could not be confirmed, Winsted Police Department Chief Nicholas Guerriero said it was under $300 and nothing else in the establishment was missing or damaged.

While the police are following up on leads, there are no suspects at this time.
