Mary A. (Matyas) Fleury

SHARON — Mary A. (Matyas)  Fleury, 53, of North Mountain Road  died Aug. 4, 2007, at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of Ross Fleury.

She was born in Sharon, the daughter of the late Jennie Mae (Woodard) and Joseph Matyas.

She was a 1972 graduate of Housatonic Regional Valley High School and had an associates degree from Biscayne Paramedical college in Miami, Fla. She was a lab technician at Sharon Hospital for many years. She was involved with the EMS Institute as a Web master and was on the Board of Directors.

She was a member of Friends of Sharon Hospital during its sale.

Other interests included travel,  gardening and bird watching.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepdaughter, Sierra; an aunt and uncle, Al and Mary Cattey of Litchfield; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Matyas.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 9,  at noon at the St. Bernard’s Church.

The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has charge of the arrangements. Burial is private.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
