Sidewalks to be like new again

MILLERTON — Between the blue skies and steady sunshine, the summer weather has cooperated for the village of Millerton to move forward with its long-anticipated sidewalk replacement project. Starting Monday, May 16, the sidewalk project aims to replace a little over 1,000 feet of sidewalk on the south side of Main Street, starting at the head of the Harlem Valley Rail Trail to the corner of Park Avenue.

To ensure businesses will be able to keep welcoming customers into their stores during the project, the project’s contractors have installed metal ramps with side rails to create access to the businesses. Since the concrete is weather-dependent work, Village Mayor Jenn Najdek was unable to give an exact timeline for when the project is completed. Hopefully if the weather cooperates and all goes well, she said the project will be “substantially completed by the holiday.”
