Go Blazers!: Champion basketball team honored by Millbrook mayor

MILLBROOK — The 2022 New York State Class C Section 9 Champions from Millbrook High School were congratulated by Millbrook Mayor Tim Collopy and village Trustees Vickie Contino and Mike Herzog on Tuesday, May 3, for their prowess on the court.

Stissing Mountain Football Club kicks off first season

PINE PLAINS — While baseball is typically the starring sport of spring, the town of Pine Plains recently welcomed a new joint youth soccer program with the town of Stanford, dubbed the Stissing Mountain Football Club (SMFC). It kicked off on Monday, April 25, and will run through Saturday, June 18.

Pine Plains youth baseball, softball celebrate Opening Day

PINE PLAINS — Swinging into spring with baseball bats in hand, the Pine Plains youth baseball and softball teams saluted the start of their 2022 season with an Opening Day celebration held on Saturday, April 30.

Webutuck Little League’s first season, ‘A time to play… to learn’

AMENIA — There’s no doubt that the Harlem Valley loves baseball, which is why those living in Amenia and Millerton are grateful their children can play ball thanks to the Webutuck Little League program. Players prepared themselves for an exciting season of America’s favorite pastime at the league’s Opening Day on Saturday, April 23.

Hitting the hoops

While some students were relaxing during their spring vacation, a number of student athletes grabbed their sneakers and their sweatbands to play some hoops at a basketball clinic organized by Dover Recreation. The clinic was held at the Dover Middle/High School gymnasium from Monday, April 11, to Thursday, April 14.

Cold, wet weather doesn’t deter Millbrook Marathon runners

MILLBROOK — Sponsored by the Eastern Dutchess Road Runners Club (EDRRC), the 26.2-mile second annual Millbrook Marathon began at 7:30 a.m. this past Sunday. It was a cold and mostly wet morning, and even though it was April 10, there was no feeling of spring in the air.

Undermountain Golf Course hopes to help nonprofits make a lot of green with tourneys

COPAKE — Local nonprofits hoping to score some green will be looking for supporters to register for a number of upcoming tournament fundraisers at the Under Mountain Golf Course in Copake, which will provide both fun and profit for groups interested in some friendly competition.
