WEBUTUCK — With the 2021 soccer season behind them, Webutuck Warriors Tyler Howard and Olivia Farnham were recently honored for their performances on the field this year. Both were selected to join the Section 9 Class C/D All Start soccer teams.

A senior at Webutuck High School (WHS), Tyler was recognized as a four-year contributor to the Webutuck varsity boys soccer team, said Athletic Director Joseph Lasaponara.

Leading his team in goals for the season, Lasaponara said Tyler was an excellent player and welcomed students from Stissing Mountain Junior/Senior High School with open arms after Webutuck High School decided to merge with the Pine Plains boy soccer team this year.

“It was great to see him grow over the last four seasons,” Lasaponara said, “and he will be greatly missed when he graduates this June, but we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Tyler earned the honor of being selected to the Section 9 C/D All Start Team for boys soccer as a result of how well he played this year — a culmination of his many years of hard work on the soccer field at Webutuck.

Just a sophomore at WHS, Olivia has been playing on the varsity soccer team at Webutuck since she was in seventh grade.

Despite her age, she assumed the role of team captain this year, and enjoyed a successful season thanks to her hard work and dedication, said her coach.

In recognition of her talents on the field, Olivia was selected to the Section 9 Class C/D All Star Team, the Section 9 All-Section Team and the 2021 Fall All-State Girls Soccer Class C Fourth Team.

“We are definitely excited about her future,” Lasaponara said. “Receiving the accolades that she has this year after only her 10th-grade season is something that is very rare and astonishing. With her leadership skills both on the field and off the field, our girls soccer program hopes to continue making significant strides forward in the future.”
