Webutuck girls soccer faces defeat against Ellenville
WEBUTUCK — Though they were ultimately defeated at the hands of their opponents, the Lady Warriors soccer team was commended for its hard work on the field during its away game against Ellenville on Thursday, April 1.
The game kicked off on the soccer fields at Ellenville High School at 11 a.m. Throughout the game’s duration, Webutuck played hard against Ellenville, coming close to gaining the upper hand for a while before losing 6-1.
Regarding their opponent, Webutuck Coach Mark Moren said Ellenville is a good team and their players are a lot older than Webutuck’s players. However, he remarked that his team keeps getting better with every game and praised the players for working really hard.
As a highlight of the game, Abby McEnroe, one of Webutuck’s seventh-grade players, scored her first goal as a seventh-grader with an assist by Webutuck High School senior Katie Johnson.
“It’s always exciting,” Coach Moren said of Abby’s first goal. “Obviously all of the other girls were very excited for her. Being a seventh-grader, she’s put in the hard work this year and she works extremely hard on the field.”
