Lady Warriors soccer team have first win of 2021-22 season

WEBUTUCK — At long last, the Webutuck High School girls varsity soccer team exalted its first win of the 2021-22 sports season after competing against Stissing Mountain High School on Tuesday night, Sept. 28.

Kicking off at 6:15 p.m., the Webutuck Lady Warriors faced the Pine Plains Lady Bombers under the lights on the soccer field behind Stissing Mountain Junior/Senior High School.

In addition to competing against the Lady Bombers, the Lady Warriors celebrated its senior players with the team’s Senior Night.

Competing for Webutuck, Abby McEnroe scored the team’s lone goal in the game’s first half, while her teammate Emily Thompson got the shutout in goal, making a total of six saves.

Reflecting on their team’s performance against the Lady Bombers, Webutuck Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Mark Moren remarked the Webutuck girls played one of their most complete games, playing great defense and keeping possession of the ball to create goal-scoring chances throughout the game.

“I’m very proud of how things came together for the entire team,” Moren said.

Celebrating their first triumph on the soccer field, Webutuck defeated Pine Plains with a score of 1-0.
