Please wear your mask and respect social distancing

Dear fellow residents and honored visitors, among the delights of our towns is the bountiful harvest of all things edible, pourable, drinkable. 

I always shop at the Millerton Farmers Market and am happy to see our town abuzz with others eager to “shop local.”

There are a lot of details to take into account if you’re planning on voting in the 2020 General Election. Especially this year. Because in the age of the coronavirus pandemic, Tuesday, Nov. 3, better known as Election Day, has become somewhat complicated.

Amid the COVID pandemic, many organizations are experiencing a shortfall in expected revenue and the ability to sponsor large gathering events. Our veteran organizations are no different. 

Wednesday, Sept. 30, should be marked on every American’s calendar. That’s because Wednesday, Sept. 30, is the last day Americans have to complete the 2020 U.S. Census — a document crucial to determining how billions of dollars in federal funding will make their way into our communities each year for the next decade.

There is absolutely no chance of the Electoral College being abolished in my lifetime. Sadly, I have to accept this. The threat to the White majority in most states prevents any local interest in allowing such a Constitutional Amendment being proposed. It doesn’t stand a chance. Why, you ask?
