If ever there was a story that got this editor revved up, it has to be the front-page article about the training exercises that just wrapped up after taking place at Millerton resident and inveterate volunteer Jennifer Dowley’s home during the past month-and-a-half or so.

The reason being, simply, is that enthusiasm is contagious.

June is Pride Month, when the world recognizes and celebrates all genders for being themselves — whoever that may be — and the LGBTQ community around the globe revels in the fact that it has finally found the freedom to be itself, 53 years after the 1969 Stonewall Riots in NYC, also in June.

The Harlem Valley just joined the rest of the United States in commemorating another Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, for the year 2022. This year’s holiday was again a somber one, as are all Memorial Days, for we are remembering soldiers lost who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live free.
