Pursuant to Sec. 12-145 of the Connecticut State Statutes, the taxpayers of the Town of Salisbury are hereby notified that the fourth installment on the Grand List of October 1, 2018 is due and payable on April 1, 2020. Payments must be received or postmarked by May 1, 2020. If said Real Estate and Personal Property taxes are not paid on or before May 1, 2020, interest at the rate of one and one half percent (18% per year) will be added for each month or a fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid. Minimum interest charge is $2.00.

Pursuant to Section 12-173 of the Connecticut State Statutes, unpaid Real Estate tax on the Grand List of October 1, 2018 will be LIENED on JUNE 3, 2020. Payment must be received by 12:00 p.m. on June 3, 2020 to avoid a Lien.

Due to the Coronavirus the Town Hall is closed to the public. There is a drop box in the vestibule of the Town Hall which is available 9am-4pm. The Town has made a policy to not accept cash at this time. The Town is urging taxpayers to mail checks or use the option of paying by credit card. Norfolk Historical Society

Request for Proposal Advertisement

The Norfolk Historical Society Inc. is accepting bids for Visitor Movement/Museum Intent: Reclaiming Space at the Norfolk Historical Society at 13 Village Green, Norfolk, CT.

The Project consists of: Demolition of an acoustic tile ceiling (525 Sq. Ft.) and pegboard covered walls (1100 Sq. Ft.), plaster restoration (approx. 2500 Sq. Ft.), electrical upgrades, finish carpentry and painting. To be considered for this project and to be added to the bidders list contact Barry Webber at info@norfolkhistoricalsociety.org to request a bid package. A pre-bid phone call, in lieu of a walkthrough, will be scheduled and proposals will be due April 30, 2020. Project work is expected to begin May/June or earlier if possible.

This project is made possible by a State of CT Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) grant and thus will adhere to the State of CT DECD Bidding and Construction Guidelines.

All contractors are required to have adequate experience in their vocation and areas of expertise which will enhance the nature of our project. Contractors must also have familiarity with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Resources, the State of CT’s process of Bidding, Contracting and Construction Guidelines, and be an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.

NORFOLK — Robert J. Pallone, 69, of Perkins St. passed away April 12, 2024, at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was a loving, eccentric CPA. He was kind and compassionate. If you ever needed anything, Bob would be right there. He touched many lives and even saved one.

Bob was born Feb. 5, 1955 in Torrington, the son of the late Joesph and Elizabeth Pallone.

The Cornwall Library unveiled its latest art exhibition, “Live It Up!,” showcasing the work of the late West Cornwall resident Joelle Sander on Saturday, April 13. The twenty works on canvas on display were curated in partnership with the library with the help of her son, Jason Sander, from the collection of paintings she left behind to him. Clearly enamored with nature in all its seasons, Sander, who split time between her home in New York City and her country house in Litchfield County, took inspiration from the distinctive white bark trunks of the area’s many birch trees, the swirling snow of Connecticut’s wintery woods, and even the scenic view of the Audubon in Sharon. The sole painting to depict fauna is a melancholy near-abstract outline of a cow, rootless in a miasma haze of plum and Persian blue paint. Her most prominently displayed painting, “Flowers,” effectively builds up layers of paint so that her flurry of petals takes on a three-dimensional texture in their rough application, reminiscent of another Cornwall artist, Don Bracken.

“’The Feast of Mystics’ was a title we used for events back when I was running The New Shul,” said Rabbi Zach Fredman of his time at the independent creative community in the West Village in New York City.
