What is the Police Blotter?

Careful readers will have noticed that the second page of The Lakeville Journal usually features the Police Blotter. The items we include are taken from the log book that is easily accessible to all members of the public in the front lobby of the State Police Troop B barracks on Route 7 in North Canaan.


Built around 1847 to house a congregation first gathered 277 years ago, The Smithfield Church will celebrate Easter Sunday this year on-line via Zoom. Traditionally a celebration that fills pews throughout the area, most worship homes are planning their best efforts to offer the messages of hope and comfort that the holiday brings.  The hope is that all will gather under whichever virtual steeple they may choose. Photo by Robert Riemer​

Many churches around the region and around the world will be closed to their congregations on Easter this year. Here is how one, the Smithfield Church in Amenia, will handle it.

 

How to help your neighbors

It’s the Northwest Corner tradition to reach out and help, in good times and bad. Volunteerism is largely what makes this part of the world such a lovely place to be (and exactly the locale you’d like to escape to during a  global emergency such as the one we are experiencing now).
