FALLS VILLAGE — Girls lacrosse and softball both have an unusually large number of players this spring at Housatonic Valley Regional High School.
The spring sports season began on April 4.
There are 25 freshman girls playing a spring sport, a sharp increase from the 15 from a year prior.

The snow’s pretty much gone so it’s time for the annual look at tackle fondling.
Let us check out the waders. Do they leak? Why yes, they do. Not so much a large tear in the Space Age breathable fabric, with frigid water gushing in. No, we are talking pinprick leaks, which inevitably develop in even the priciest waders.
FALLS VILLAGE —The 2021-22 winter sports season at Housatonic Valley Regional High School (HVRHS) saw the return of a regular season including state tournaments and, at the very end, a return to mask-optional play.

COVENTRY—The Housatonic Valley Regional High School girls basketball team was eliminated 40-25 by No. 3 Coventry High School in a quarterfinal game Tuesday, March 8.
FALLS VILLAGE — The Regional Middle School Athletics and Activities Winter Program finished up on Thursday, Feb. 17.

SALISBURY — Motorists and bicyclists in the Northwest Corner may soon see signs that indicate they are on U.S. Bicycle Route 7 (USBR7), a new cycling route that runs parallel to U.S. Route 7, from Norwalk, Conn., to the Canadian border with Vermont.
The route was designated in 2016, with support from Northwest Corner towns.

Winter sports were on display Sunday, Feb. 27 with cross-country skiing action in Cornwall; athletes participating in the Polar Bear Run around Lake Waramaug donned warm weather gear. For more winter sports coverage, click here.

FALLS VILLAGE — To finish off their season, the Housatonic Valley Regional High School boys basketball team played their last two games at home.
The Mountaineers faced off on Thursday, Feb. 17, against Shepaug Valley High School, losing 88-41.
