That assessment of the weather came from photographer Sarah Blodgett, who was shivering in her booth at the Salisbury Artisans sale on an extremely chilly and windy Saturday morning, May 7.
FALLS VILLAGE — Sitting comfortably at home the rest of the season, the Housatonic Valley Regional High School baseball team is still fighting for a postseason berth, yet struggled against Mount Everett High School, losing 7-5 on Wednesday, May 11.
FALLS VILLAGE — The girls track team won its meet on May 2 against Terryville and Litchfield. Sydney Segalla won both the 100 and 200 meter races. Linus Barnes won the shot put event and qualified for the Berkshire League championships.
FALLS VILLAGE — The Housatonic Valley Regional High School softball team has started to gain traction in the final month of the season, earning a second consecutive win with a decisive 15-7 victory at home over The Gilbert School on Friday, April 29.
SHARON — Now marking its 37th year as a Sharon tradition, enthusiasm is running high for the Sharon Classic Road Race, coming up on Saturday, May 7, rain or shine. Proceeds for the major annual fundraiser will benefit Sharon Day Care, celebrating 37 years of serving the Sharon community.
FALLS VILLAGE — The spring season is underway for the Housatonic Mountaineers.
The track and field team will open their season at home on April 26, after participating in a league invitational at Terryville on April 11. Each member of the small team (seven boys and thirteen girls) was able to compete in two events each.
NORTH CANAAN — The Blackberry River is well-stocked and fished hard.
It also has Beckley Furnace, which is Connecticut’s only industrial monument and as such has a couple of picnic tables.
On a pleasant day it’s a nice spot to grab a sandwich and relax.
RIVERTON — Ever been to a fishermen’s flea market? Me neither.
So I saddled up Saturday morning, April 2, and went over to Riverton, near the spot where the Still River joins the West Branch of the Farmington River, and had a look around.
FALLS VILLAGE — The Housatonic Valley Regional High School athletic department celebrated Winter Sports Awards Night on March 26.
