COVID-19 complicates the budget process

The COVID-19 crisis and cancellation of in-person meetings is occurring as towns and school boards prepare their budgets for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The towns are posting budget proposals on their websites and doing their best to host online meetings.

Readers may notice discrepancies between Region One School District assessments included in town education budget proposals and the assessments included in the latest Region One budget proposal. Region One Business Manager Sam Herrick is aware of the situation.

For now, The Lakeville Journal is using the figures supplied by the towns’ school boards, as these have been or will be the figures discussed in previous or future online meetings.
