In mid-October of 1948, an election year, The New York Times was reporting Republican Tom Dewey’s likely cabinet choices after his all but certain victory over President Harry Truman in November.

Why it is necessary to elect Brian Ohler  

For next week’s election, we need to focus our attention on our local needs and resources, right here in Northwest Connecticut. Why? Because I don’t think that Washington, or even Hartford, cares.

Bert Cane and family of Taconic have been spending a couple of weeks with Mrs. Cane’s people in Scranton, Pa.

All Americans who have followed the presidential race, and surely that includes all who read this page, know their vote is more important this year than ever.

SALISBURY— W.S. Thompson who has been farmer at the Salisbury School will terminate his connection with the school November 1st and will move his family to Lakeville occupying the Dr. Peterson place to be vacated by Dr. Tuttle.
