Info meeting on two bridge jobs
CORNWALL — A public information meeting will be hosted by the Department of Transportation (DOT) at Town Hall at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.DOT representatives will offer details and answer questions about two bridge replacement projects slated to begin in spring 2014.Project No. 31-127 is the rebuilding of a Route 4 bridge over Bloody Brook, near the intersection of West Road (just south of Foote Fields). The superstructure is listed as being in poor condition. The 12-foot-long bridge will be widened from 28.3 feet to 34 feet, with a concrete slab on concrete abutments. The cost is estimated at $1.5 million.Project No. 31-128 is on Route 43 over a tributary of the Hollenbeck River. The 8-foot-long span’s superstructure was determined to be in a seriously deteriorated condition. The plan is to widen it by 5 inches to 30 feet and build a concrete slab deck on stone masonry abutments. The cost is estimated at $1 million.Both roads will be single lane during construction. Project costs will be paid for with state and federal funding. Plans are available for review at Town Hall.
