Like her plants, Perry's artwork grows at its own pace

CORNWALL — It was late February and Sybil Perry was feeling anxious about an upcoming art exhibit. It would be far from her first. She’s been showing and selling her paintings for 25 years. And the venue, The Cornwall Library, has hosted her before.

Her dilemma? She had agreed in January to be the May artist of the month. The plan was for all new work. She started by checking out the show that was on display, and measuring the library’s exhibit wall.

“I figured I’d need to do 20 to 25 small paintings to fill it,†Perry said. “I’m not sure when I’m going to do them or what they are going to be, but in 30 years of painting I’ve learned to let art lead me.â€

On top of that, Perry has a garden design business, which is  about to gear up for spring.

Not surprisingly, she paints landscapes in pastels, and as the two endeavors overlap, her creative and wonder in the beauty of nature make for a meditative experience. She was counting on that transcending the stress of a time crunch. Several weeks ago, she reported she was almost ready.

A postcard announcing the show offers a sneak peak with “Woods Edge,†a study of her favorite subject, trees, in autumn, done with an Impressionistic use of color.

Her show, “Into the Woods,†is set to run May 4 to 31. An opening reception will be held May 4, 2 to 5 p.m.

Perry’s work regularly receives awards at juried gallery shows. Her paintings are included in private collections in the United States and abroad, and are currently on display at the Lenox Gallery of Fine Art in Lenox, Mass.

Similar abuses are calling people with the horn, tire chains slapping, brakes shrieking, etc. All unnecessary noise is illegal and subject to fine.

A loose legal Cannon

Judges are the weakest link in our system of justice, and they are also the most protected. —Alan Dershowitz

Aloose legal cannon presides in the Southern District of Florida over a federal espionage case dealing with the removal of national security-related and classified documents which when sought for return and official archive storage were denied: denied they were present, denied they were anything but the personal property of a President who had just failed his re-election bid.
