FFA offers decorative service to businesses
NORTH CANAAN — A little bit of holiday cheer was spread on Friday, Dec. 11, as Gregg and Nancy Tidd, owners of the Canaan Valley Pet Shop, delivered handmade wreaths to businesses in North Canaan.
Downtown shops and restaurants purchased the wreaths from the Housatonic Valley FFA Holiday Store, with a goal of uniting the town in festive spirit. Additionally, they are promoting an ideal of “Shop Local†and supporting community business.
Many stores, including Latinos Unidos Latin Market, Mahaiwe Jewelers and Canaan Coins are offering holiday specials, as are restaurants, including Zia Maria Pizzaria, Maine Caboose, and What’s Cooking?
The holiday greens are available at Housatonic Valley Regional High School through Sunday, Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Items for sale include an assortment of trees (ranging in price from $20 to $55), wreaths ($12 to $40), table centerpieces ($15 to $30), poinsettias ($6 to $40) and decorative roping ($3 per foot). In addition, various types of cheese are sold ($3 to $12).
All proceeds benefit the Housatonic Valley FFA Chapter, and a portion of sales will be donated to the four local food pantries.
