Edith ‘Edie’ Lillian Bell
LAKEVILLE — Edith “Edie” Lillian Bell, died March 13, 2012, at the age of 92, from complications of heart disease. She was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Johnson City, N.Y. She married Richard Merton Bell in 1939.Edie was one of the original Coca-Cola girls, traveling door to door handing out Coca-Cola souvenirs. She raised three children and did a good job of it. She moved to Lakeville in 1960, when her husband opened his plastics business, Lakeville Precision Molding. In her younger years, she loved a good party and a good night out of music and dancing. And also into her later years when she listened to music at “open mic” nights at P.D. Walsh’s Country Store in Falls Village. She was a great seamstress, made clothing for the family and decorated her homes with her work. She especially loved her friends, her pets, her gardens, painting, writing poetry, shopping, reading, watching TV, “burnt hotdogs,” races at Lime Rock Park and listening to great music.She worked as a volunteer at the Bargain Barn in Sharon and was a senior volunteer instructor for an arthritis exercise class for the town of Salisbury at the Town Grove for seven years.She is survived by her children, Carolee Bell, Diann Franson and Rick Bell; her grandchildren, Devi Tolchin, Patchin Podes, Cory McCrory, Troy Shooter, Liv Franson, Eric Franson and Kayla Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Trevor Tolchin, Madison Tolchin, Remy Podes, Jaxon Podes, Jema Shooter, Bevan McCrory, Aidan McCrory,Deni McCrory, Kylie Shooter, Preston Shooter, Esperanza Quiroz, Hannah Quiroz, Olivia Robson and Asa Franson.There will be a memorial service to celebrate Edie’s life on Saturday, March 24, at the Sharon United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association, 30 Salmon Kill Rd., Salisbury, CT 06068; or the Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service, PO Box 582, Salisbury, CT 06068. The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has charge of arrangements.
