Doris A. Westfall
ANCRAMDALE — Doris A. Westfall, 68, passed away on Oct. 14, 2011, at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan.She was born in Great Barrington, Mass., on Oct. 17, 1942, the daughter of the late Dora (Shook) and William Smith Sr. Doris was the Ancram tax collector from 1978 to 1987. She was a seamstress and past member of the Tri–Mountain Square Dancers. She loved cats, her garden and enjoyed her crafts. She also had a CB radio; her handle name was “Square Dance.” For many nights, she kept the truckers awake at night. Survivors include her three sons, B. Douglas Westfall Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Millerton, John Westfall and his wife, Sandy, of Copake Falls and Richard Westfall of Ancramdale; a sister, Susan Roeger of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, the Rev. Andrew Smith of Philmont, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, B. Douglas Westfall Sr., in 1977; a brother, William Smith Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Schroeder.A funeral service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Millerton with the Rev.
