Daniel Robert Walley Sr.
SHARON â€” Daniel Robert Walley Sr., 80, of Sharon died June 14, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Poppa, as he was known to his three children, seven grandchildren and his great-grandson, was born on March 15, 1930, in Jessup, Pa.
He had seven brothers and three sisters.
He moved to Bridgeport, Conn., in 1940 and married his loving wife of 58 years, Eleanor (Lesak) Walley, on Feb. 23, 1952.
A property owner in Sharon for more than 40 years and a Teamster for more than 25 years, he retired from Yellow Freight Trucking to move permanently to Sharon in 1990, where he was truly happy and will be laid to rest.
In addition to his wife, Poppa is survived by his sisters, Helen Christie and Madge Shefchick; his brother, Steve Walley; his sons, Robert and Daniel Walley; his grandchildren, Sarah Walley DePanfilis, Michael Walley, Corinne Walley, Jeffrey Walley, Cynthia Walley Haab, Patrick Walley and Jonathan Walley; and his great-grandson, Carter Haab.
He was predeceased by his son, James Walley.
A service was held at St. Bernardâ€™s Church in Sharon on June 19.
