‘My life would be totally different if I didn't have the dance studio I had as a child," Amber Cameron said at the open house of the new Blue Studio Dance in Lakeville, Conn., held last Saturday, on Aug. 26.

Misty Copeland, who launched to national fame in 2015 when she became the first Black woman to be promoted to the rank of principal at New York City’s American Ballet Theatre, will be honored at Jacob’s Pillow dance center and school in Becket, Mass., on Saturday, June 24 at its season-opening gala.

The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory held its annual spring performances last weekend, just next door to their studio at the neighboring Warner Theatre in Torrington, Conn.

Sugar plums and marzipan, dewdrops, chocolates and candy canes, the wonders of “The Nutcracker’s” Land of Sweets are treats and spectacles, perhaps no greater than the fantasy of the immense rising Christmas tree, which grows towering like a magic bean stalk from the stage.

The arts in the Berkshires are back in full swing this summer, and the gorgeous Jacob’s Pillow campus in Becket, Mass., is already thrumming with dance and music.

Jacob’s Pillow in Becket, Mass., is offering a workshop with the New England Soul Line Dance Network on Sunday, July 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. It’s open to all ages and no experience is needed.

PS21 in Chatham, N.Y., opens its summer season with a program of Nigerian dance called “Re:INCARNATION” by Qudus Onikeku and QDance on June 3 and 4.
