Connecticut State Police Troop B

The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police at Troop B. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Car flips onto roof

Susan Marzan-Moser, 57, of West Cornwall was driving east on West Cornwall Road in Sharon Jan. 7. At about 3:49 p.m., she lost control on a curve just east of Surdan Mountain Road. The 2009 Saturn Vue drifted off the road. It flipped onto its roof. Marzan-Moser was taken to Sharon Hospital with minor injuries. The car was heavily damaged. She was charged with failure to maintain the proper lane.

Car hits trailer

Kevin Vetter, 53, of Lakeville was driving west on Route 44 in Salisbury Jan. 8. At about noon, his 2013 Mazda CXS hit the rear of a trailer towed by a 1999 International truck driven by Shawn Sepples, 33, of Litchfield. Sepples had stopped at a crosswalk for a pedestrian. There were no injuries. The trailer, registered to Sepples Tree Service in Goshen, had no visible damage. The Mazda had front-end damage. Vetter was given a written warning for following too closely.

Larceny reported

Troop B is investigating a report of the theft of household items over the past year. Thomas Flint, 32, of Canaan Road in Salisbury filed the complaint Jan. 8.

Rear-end collision

Denali Blumert, 18, of Salisbury was driving east on Route 4 in Goshen Jan. 8. At about 1:24 p.m., the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze hit the rear of a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Mark Masiuk, 39, of Trumbull, Conn. Masiuk had stopped for traffic at the rotary at Route 63. There were no injuries to the drivers or Blumert’s passenger, Jaime Conklin, 18, of Falls Village. Damage was minor. Blumert was charged with following too closely.

DUI

Jake Peterson, 23, of Sharon turned himself in on a warrant Jan. 9. The warrant was issued following an investigation into an Aug. 18 motor vehicle accident on Lime Rock Road in Salisbury. He was charged with driving under the influence, traveling too fast for conditions, failure to maintain the proper lane and operating a motor vehicle with unsafe tires. Bond was set at $7,500. He was to appear in Bantam Superior Court Jan. 14.

Fraud investigated

Salisbury Bank and Trust Co., personnel reported Jan. 10 the theft of money through fraud that has taken place since last August. The complaint is under investigation.

Cabaret comes to St. Andrew's in Kent

Music in the Nave will again tap into local talent April 6 at 7 p.m. when its features George Potts in an intimate cabaret concert in the St. Andrew’s Church parish house.

Pott is a well-known figure in the community, both through his presence in the perennially popular Fife ‘n Drum, the restaurant started by his father-in-law, renowned pianist Dolph Trayman, and through his own career as a folk musician.
