Clarice St. Charles Gilderdale

SHARON — Clarice St. Charles Gilderdale, 82, passed peacefully on Oct. 22, 2011, a beautiful autumn day in Tempe, Ariz., surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Sharon on Nov. 27, 1929, she was a warm, outgoing, artistic and cheerful person with many friends.She was never bashful about meeting new people or going on adventures. Her loves included her family, animals, motorcycle riding and painting. In her later years, she was active in New Frontiers for Lifetime Learning at Mesa Community College and she loved to travel. Much of her long career in health care was spent at Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.She is survived by her sisters, Sharlot Kreiling of Mesa and Coralie Keesler of Tucson, Ariz.; her daughters, Carrie Billitz of Portland, Ore., Aleta Watson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wallis Gorden of Bluefield, West Va.; her son, Byron Gilderdale of East Canaan; and six grandchildren, Emily, Eric, Kaya, Rachael, Kendall and Lauren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; her mother, Helen Prindle St. Charles; her father, Russell St. Charles; and her sister, Florence. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Ellsworth Cemetery in Sharon. Water main cleaning in North Canaan

NORTH CANAAN – Aquarion Water Company today announced a water main cleaning project in the company’s North Canaan system. Blues legend Robert Cray will be bringing his stinging, funky guitar and soulful singing to Infinity Hall Norfolk on Friday, March 29.

A five-time Grammy winner, Cray has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned The Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance. He has played with blues and rock icons including Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and many more.

Cabaret comes to St. Andrew's in Kent

Music in the Nave will again tap into local talent April 6 at 7 p.m. when its features George Potts in an intimate cabaret concert in the St. Andrew’s Church parish house.

Pott is a well-known figure in the community, both through his presence in the perennially popular Fife ‘n Drum, the restaurant started by his father-in-law, renowned pianist Dolph Trayman, and through his own career as a folk musician.
