Webutuck celebrates May 14: New health center grand opening
WEBUTUCK — The North East Webutuck Central School District (WCSD) Board of Education (BOE) inched closer to seeing plans for its long-awaited school-based health clinic realized at its April 4 meeting.
Turning the floor over to Webutuck nurse Charles Davis, Superintendent of Schools Raymond Castellani described the imminent opening of the WCSD health center as “probably the most proud moment of my educational career.”
Observing it’s been almost three years since the health center was first proposed, Davis outlined the journey to the clinic’s creation, from the time the idea was inspired to the extensive research that went into the benefits, partnerships and actions the district will reap.
As Davis outlined the numerous services that will soon be provided for students, the BOE was informed that recently Webutuck had successfully secured a mental health provider to join as one of the providers at the clinic.
In collaboration with its healthcare partner, Open Door Family Medical Center, the WCSD will celebrate the grand opening of the health center with community members on Saturday, May 14, at 11:15 a.m.
As announced by the district, the WCSD health center will not only serve all three schools — including Webutuck Elementary School, Eugene Brooks Intermediate School and Webutuck High School — but it will also be the first school-based health center in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
