WINSTED — While hunger and poverty continue to be growing concerns in the area, local organizations and residents are teaming up to help the less fortunate during this holidays season.
On Friday, Nov. 22, St. Anthony School students walked over from their school building to The Open Door Soup Kitchen to donate items collected in a food drive. They were also given a tour of the facility by volunteers.
According to sixth grade teacher Scott Norton, who also leads the school’s student service council, students and parents collected 906 items in its food drive.
