John W. Irwin

NORTH CANAAN — John W. Irwin, 78, died Aug. 27, 2019, at his home in Fountain, Colo.

Pamela M. (Rutledge) Packard

SALISBURY — Pamela M. Packard, 71, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., passed away on Aug. 15, 2019. She was born in Great Barrington on Nov. 30, 1947. 

A graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School and with honors from Ithaca College, she received her master’s degree in social studies. 

Pam had a lifelong career in teaching, beginning in Maine and taking her to Connecticut, Washington state and finally in South Carolina.  

She was a member for 29 years of Christ our King church in Mount Pleasant. 

David Brown

CORNWALL — David Brown, 69, of Brewster, N.Y., died  Aug. 24, 2019, at Vassar Brothers’ Hospital in Poughkeepsie. 

David was born Aug. 9. 1950, the son of Marie (Boyd) Brown and the late George F. Brown. 

He graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School and, in May 1973, from the University of Connecticut, with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. 

He worked at Hunt Country Furniture and then, in 1979, he started at Lamothermic Corp. in Brewster, N.Y., where he worked  until his illness.

Matthew L. Holderman

NORTH CANAAN — Matthew L. Holderman, 46, of Canaan Valley died Aug. 18, 2019, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

He was the husband of Jill K. (Beaucock) Holderman. 

Matthew was born Oct. 9, 1972, in Carson City, Nev. He was the son of Janet Lou (Skeith) Holderman of Kansas City, Mo., and the late Calvin Lawrence Holderman Jr. 

Matthew worked as a self-employed home improvement contractor. He also was a guide and trapper at Orvis Sandanona in Millbrook. Matthew loved the outdoors. 

Lucy (Reyes) Kling

WEST CORNWALL — Lucy (Reyes) Kling, 89, formerly of West Cornwall passed away Aug. 21, 2019, in Milford, Conn., after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the wife of John “Jack” Kling for 61 years. 

Judith S. Becker

NORTH CANAAN — Judith S. Becker, 79, formerly of Salisbury died Aug. 20, 2019,  at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A full obituary will be printed in next week’s Lakeville Journal confirming a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Lakeville in early October. 

The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has care of arrangements.

Vivian Lucile (Rockwell) Nasiatka

SALISBURY — Vivian Lucile (Rockwell) Nasiatka, age 56, lost her long battle with cancer and is now at rest to await the promise of resurrection. 

Born in San Bernardino, Calif., Vivian moved to Connecticut in the early 1980s. 

She worked in accounting departments with Rockwell International, Robert Half Marketing, Combustion Engineering, and ABB Corp. 

Vivian received her BS Degree from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford in 1993 and later established her own accounting business. 

Augusta Margaret ‘Dolly’ (Fracasso) Taylor

WINSTED —  Augusta Margaret (Fracasso) Taylor, affectionately known as Dolly, passed away on Aug. 22, 2019, at 91 years of age, surrounded by her family.  

She was born in Winsted on April 4, 1928, to Sarafina and Luigi Zacarra, immigrants from Venice, Italy.  

She was married to Harold R. Taylor on Feb. 26, 1949; he predeceased her in 2007.

She was a devoted homemaker and an excellent Italian cook.In her spare time she gardened, crocheted and did chair caning.
