WEBUTUCK— Throughout the month of October, teachers and faculty members from the North East (Webutuck) Central School District are raising awareness about getting screened in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As a third-grade teacher at Webutuck Elementary School (WES) and an active member of the Webutuck Teachers’ Association (WTA), Regina McCoy has been a guiding light, organizing fundraising and raising awareness in the district. Starting last year with a 50-50 raffle for the community, she decided to expand her efforts this year by selling T-shirts to Webutuck...

Webutuck commemorates Veterans Day

WEBUTUCK — The students and faculty of Eugene Brooks Intermediate School (EBIS) hosted the school’s first Veterans Day ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 9, to commemorate veterans in the community. 
Students welcomed family members who served and became acquainted with other veterans from around the area. 
A breakfast followed the morning’s ceremony, and EBIS Principal Erik Lynch honored the occasion by playing a recording of the U.S. Service Branch Medley to represent all service members.

Monsters came out to play

In celebration of Halloween, Webutuck Elementary School students walked to the upper campus for a parade around the high school on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The children were greeted with broad smiles and provided with bags to collect Halloween goodies. Throughout the high school, teachers decorated their classroom doors for Halloween and high schoolers helped distribute candy.

Community spirit alive and kicking at Webutuck Community Day

WEBUTUCK— Community spirit was the theme of the day on Saturday, Oct. 14 as members of the North East (Webutuck) Central School District came together for another lively Community Day on campus.
Families and community members gathered behind Webutuck High School (WHS) to explore what the day had in store for them.
With the help of Paul Voorhees from Voorhees Event & Tent, a pair of bounce houses was at the high school. Before long, shrieks of excitement emerged from the houses as children jumped around with their friends.
