SALISBURY — One of the bears that has been spotted almost daily in Salisbury village was captured by a bear trap set behind a business on Academy Street. The bear wandered into the trap at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16, according to a neighbor who said she heard the door of the trap slam shut. 

At press time, state biologists were on their way to pick up the bear trap and move it to an undisclosed nearby location. More photos and a story will appear in the July 26 edition of The Lakeville Journal.

According to the neighbor, the bear settled down quietly...

Enthusiastic new leader takes HousaTonics through their paces

SALISBURY — The HousaTonics singing group was at its regular rehearsal last Thursday, working on “Goodnight Sweetheart.”
“Doot doot doot,” sang the basses.
“I think we’re going to lose the ‘t’ — at least swallow it,” said the group’s new director, Nicole Thomas.
“For them to swing, we’ve got to stay square,” she said, making a notation on her music as to the transformation of the “doots” to “doos.”
Thomas has been working with the all-male singing group for a month now, and she’s having a good time.
