Choices for the week

This week, it’s the Buffalo Bills versus the Jets.
Doug’s Pick
I stopped rooting for the Jets when Joe Namath retired. They always have given the appearance of an old, wannabe AFL expansion team, and their lack of  Super Bowl appearances testifies to their inability to “get it done.” And they won’t this week either.

NFL Predictions: Browns vs. Vikings

This week, it’s the Cleveland Browns versus the Minnesota Vikings — in England.
Doug’s Pick
While one has to applaud the NFL’s quest to bring Light to our forebears  by periodically sending two teams across the pond to show the Brits what real football is, offering up what might be a bloodbath between the 5-2 Minnesota Vikings and the miserable, winless Cleveland Browns doesn’t seem like the right endeavor.

NFL Predictions: Falcons vs. Patriots

This week, it’s the Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots (Sunday, Oct. 22).
Patrick’s Pick
The New England Patriots often toy with their victims for three quarters before dispatching them in the game’s final minutes. This is why they don’t cover the point spread as often as you’d think (although there is no gambling on pro football).

Predictions

This week, it’s the New England Patriots versus the Houston Texans.
Pink’s Pick
Pink was on vacation this week and did not send in a pick.
Doug’s Pick
When New England restored order to the football universe last Sunday by spanking the Saints, 36-20, a grateful Patriots nation breathed a sigh of relief and chalked up the Week One embarrassment to Kansas City as another minor aberration that will mean nothing by playoff time.

Predictions

A tradition for many years in The Winsted Journal was Charles “Pink” Bunel’s weekly stab at choosing the winners in the upcoming NFL contests. Now that The Lakeville Journal has taken on coverage of Winsted Journal news, we have converted Pink’s Picks to a new format in which Pink is joined by Lakeville Journal Senior Reporter Patrick L. Sullivan and Housatonic Valley Regional High School football coach Doug Richardson in choosing the victor in a single weekly game.
This week, it’s Packers versus Falcons.
