School shootings: What it’s about

The issue of school shootings isn’t just one problem: It’s about mental health, it’s about gun control, it’s about having the right guns in the hands of the right people and it is a constitutional issue. The Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights are as close to some as God and are almost held in the same light. 

Trump at jamboree, an opportunity forever lost

If you were lucky enough to attend the Boy Scout Jamboree in July, you got to see President Trump speak. Then you would know, like me, that his speech was mediocre. 

Our exploration of space: Taking an ax to tomorrow

NASA’s space probe Juno finished its five-year trip last year, going 165,000 m.p.h. while getting to its destination, Jupiter. 

I believe that this amazing accomplishment is one of the two great achievements that show how far we have advanced since the days of the space race and landing on the moon. Overshadowed by the election, this momentous event in scientific history got little attention from the media.

Sports stars who protest the national anthem aren’t sending the right message. Athletes like Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers are using their celebrity to show that they are against police brutality. What they’re doing is wrong. It spreads the idea that protesters of police tactics are unpatriotic people who don’t care what is right or wrong. They are inciting discord among fans, the populace and the NFL. It is also disrespectful to veterans and those who lost their lives serving this country.
