Louise W. Carter

SALISBURY — Louise W. Carter, 94, of Salisbury, passed away Feb. 11, 2013, at Gardenside Lodge at Geer Village in North Canaan, where she had been a resident for three years. Louise was born in Denver, Colo., on Nov. 29, 1918, the first-born of the late Helen (Wylie) and Raymond H. White.

She was a graduate of Torrington High School and the Danbury School of Nursing, and was married to the late Lawson Averell Carter Jr.

A resident of the Salisbury-Lakeville area for 52 years, she was active in the community and St. John’s Episcopal Church and semi-active in nursing.

Robert Earl Annis

AMENIA — Robert Earl Annis, 73, a 44-year resident of Amenia, previously of Wisconsin, died Feb. 6, 2013, at Sharon Hospital. Mr. Annis was a self-employed bovine chiropodist for local dairy farms for more than 30 years. Mr. Annis also served his country honorably in the United States Navy.

He was born June 2, 1939, in Montpelier, Vt., the son of the late Evelyn C. (Martin) and William A. Annis. He attended Waterbury schools.

John F. Arcelaschi, Sr., 76, of Winsted, died Feb. 5, 2013. Calling hours were held Feb. 8. Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery in the spring. Maloney Funeral Home has care of arrangements.

Benjamin A. Warner

Benjamin A. Warner, of Barkhamsted, died Feb. 5, 2013. Calling hours were held Feb. 10. Funeral services with Full Military Honors were held Feb. 11 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, New Hartford, has care of arrangements.

George C. ‘Skip’ Senior

SALISBURY — George C. “Skip” Senior, 69, passed away Feb. 1, 2013, at Tidewell Hospice, Palmetto, Fla., surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Waterbury, Conn., on Nov. 6, 1943, the son of the late Beatrice (Brusie) and George C. Senior. He had been a resident of Ellenton, Fla., since 2001 and previously was a longtime resident of Winchester, N.H.
He married Barbara Thompson on May 19, 2001. She predeceased him on Sept. 26, 2012. He was also predeceased by his son, Charles L. Senior, and his sister, Pamela Reed.

Henry Canning Woodward

KENT — Henry Canning Woodward, brilliant teacher, mentor, adventurer, lover of music and beloved husband, died Feb. 2, 2013, after a sudden illness. He was 48 and lived in North Eastham, Mass.
Henry was born Nov. 16, 1964, in Sharon, the son of Diane (Whiteley) and John Hall Woodward. He was raised in Pottstown, Pa., on the campus of The Hill School, the boarding school where his father taught history.
In the summer, the family traveled to a seasonal home in Chatham, Mass., on Cape Cod for seaside living marked by time with cousins and the joys of “simply messing about in boats.”

Robert P. Levine

KENT — Robert P. Levine passed away at home in north Kent on Feb. 5, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and the beautiful rolling hills of northwest Connecticut. Mr. Levine was 81 years old and lived his life in New York City, Ardsley, N.Y., and Kent.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Levine attended Brooklyn College and Harvard Law School. An attorney in private practice in Manhattan for almost 60 years, he was committed to civil rights, social justice and democratic causes. His legacy of public service includes a wide range of interests and organizations.

Virginia Ruth Lawrence

SHARON — Virginia Ruth Lawrence, 72, passed away Feb. 4, 2013, at Sharon Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Wichita, Kan., to the late Evelyn and Dr. Arthur McAuley.

She grew up in Choteau, Mont., with her younger brothers, Steve and Robert, and her younger sister, Janine. She graduated from Choteau High School in 1958.

Following in her father’s medical footsteps, she earned her nursing degree from Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls, Mont.

Robert O. Decker

COPAKE — Robert O. Decker, 56, of Route 344 in Copake Falls and a former longtime resident of Millerton, passed away Feb. 8, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 5, 1956, in Sharon, the son of Constance M. (Kilmer) and Clarence C. Decker.

Robert had been employed with Hipotronics in Millerton and was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Charles F. Gablemann Jr.

Charles F. Gablemann Jr., 84, of Winsted, died Jan. 22, 2013. A memorial service and celebration of his life was held Feb. 2 at The Second Congregational Church of Winsted. Maloney Funeral Home has care of arrangements.

Richard Mahoney

 

NORFOLK — Richard Mahoney, 86, died Jan. 16, 2013. 

He was born May 23, 1926, the son of May (Volpe) and Mathew Mahoney. He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. He was an avid golfer and collector of old golf clubs and was a member of Canaan Country Club for many years. 

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy throughout Europe and was a member of the Canaan VFW.
