Cost estimates for the middle school sports plan

Communities in the Region One School District will vote Nov. 26 (after this edition goes to press) on whether there should be a regional middle school sports program rather than each school fielding separate boys and girls teams in multiple sports.

The incentive for creating the program is that school populations are decreasing and it’s becoming more difficult to field teams. The regional program would bring together more students and would also allow students to participate in additional sports such as swimming that are not currently offered.
