Dutchess County Sheriff's Report 2-2-12

The following information was provided by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Burglary

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two  subjects for a burglary in Pine Plains earlier this month.

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, at approximately 1 a.m., deputies responded to the M&R Grocery on Church Street in Pine Plains for a burglar alarm activation. Upon arrival they discovered the store had been broken into and the suspects were gone. The Sheriff’s Office Detective Division then became involved in the investigation, resulting in the identification and arrest of two individuals, Christopher M. Kiel, 19, of Clinton, and Austin R. Link, 16, of Pine Plains. They are accused of breaking into the store and stealing incense/synthetic marijuana.  

Both individuals were arrested on Thursday, Jan. 26 and charged with burglary in the 3rd degree, which is a Class D felony. After being processed both were arraigned at Pine Plains Court and released, with a court appearance date of Wednesday, Feb. 1. Additional charges are pending and further information may be released later.  

Domestic violence arrest

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Angel M. Navarro, 24, of Pine Plains, on Tuesday, Jan. 24, for various charges stemming from a domestic dispute.

The sheriff’s office was dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to a location in the town of Pine Plains at approximately 1:15 p.m., on Jan. 24, for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival to the area, Navarro was located near the scene and was detained while deputies investigated further. At the completion of the investigation Navarro was taken into custody. He is accused of striking his girlfriend and threatening her with a knife before slashing the tires on her car. Neither the victim nor the exact location where this occurred will be identified to protect the victim’s privacy.

As you walk through the downstairs rooms, you’ll see dozens of examples from her needlework sampler collection. Some are simple and crude, others are sophisticated and complex. Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
