DWI wreck takes down stop lights

WINSTED — An automobile accident on Main Street Saturday, Jan. 21, took down a utility pole and traffic lights and resulted in an arrest for driving while intoxicated.William Schibi, of 8 Fruit St., was arrested after his car crashed into a utility pole near the Second Congregational Church of Winsted at 800 Main St.According to the Winchester Police Department, Schibi was driving on Main Street at around 9:45 p.m. when his car crashed in front of the church. The accident took down the utility pole, snapping wires and subsequently taking down traffic lights, which all landed in the street.The police department determined that Schibi was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, traveling too fast for conditions and making a restricted turn. Schibi was released on $500 bond and is due to appear in Bantam Superior Court on Monday, Jan. 30.Connecticut Light and Power crews worked into the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 22, to repair the damaged wires. Traffic was redirected east to Munro Street and west to Meadow Street.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
