A coach sees changing approaches to youth tennis

FALLS VILLAGE — In the highly competitive world of youth tennis, Vanessa Pereira is an eyewitness to the changing landscape of that sport. Pereira, 31, is a youth tennis manager.

Tennis was a major factor in her life from an early age. Her mother, a Brazilian immigrant, worked in the house of Mats Wilander, winner of the 1982 French Open. Pereira grew close with the Wilander family, sparking an interest in the game that never left.
