Remembering the Cornwall soldiers from the Civil War

CORNWALL — Following a report by a high school student, the Cornwall selectmen voted at their meeting on Tuesday, June 18, to endorse a project to erect a plaque that will commemorate the service of Cornwall soldiers who fought in the Civil War.

Research began when Spencer Markow was a student at Cornwall Consolidated School. He sought to create a Civil War memorial for the town.

First Selectman Gordon Ridgway explained that what began as a school project has grown into something that will have a lasting benefit.
