SHARON —There were seven full tables for duplicate bridge at Good Neighbors, 1 Low Road, on Sept. 7. We played four boards a round, for a total of 28. The average score was 84. It was a great rainy day for bridge indoors as summer is expiring. The room was quiet and the atmosphere very pleasant. For North South pairs, in first were Joan Turnure and Sheila Puccia with 94.83 points (56.45 percent); in second were Carol Magowan and Seth Milliken with 91.41 points (54.41 percent), and in third were Emily and Billy Saster with 88.25 points (52.53 percent). For East West pairs, in first were Diane and Roger Price with 108.50 points (64.58 percent); in second were Lilly Beck and John Bevan with 107.25 points (63.84 percent), and in third were Susan Lambrecht and Ken Clark with 84.84 points (50.5 percent).There were six and a half tables for duplicate bridge Sept. 14.We played four boards a round so North South pairs played 28 boards and East West pairs played 24 boards with a four board sit out. The average score was 70. For North South pairs, in first with 81.5 points (58.21 percent) were Ann Patton and Harry Hall; in second with 79.5 points (56.79 percent) were Doris Reeves and Sheila Puccia, and in third with 70.5 points (50.36 percent) were Emily and Billy Saster. For East West pairs, in first with 86.33 points (61.66 percent) were Lily Beck and Dianne Montague; in second with 77 points (55.00 percent) were Susan Lambrecht and Ken Clark, and in third with 72.92 points (52.09 percent) were Sue Norris and Bob Finn.There were seven full tables Sept. 21. For North South pairs, in first with 101 points (60.12 percent) were Trish Stimpson and Harry Hall; in second with 100 points (59.52 percent) were Carol Magowan and Seth Milliken, and in third with 91.5 points (54.46 percent) were Ann Patton and George Mason. For East West pairs, in first with 96.5 points (57.44 percent) were Marguerite McGrath and Anne Bates; in second with 93.5 points (55.65 percent) were Lilly Beck and Kit Kellogg, and in third with 83.5 points (49.7 percent) were Sue Norris and Bob Finn. There were six-and-a-half tables on the last Wednesday of September. We played four boards a round and there was a four-board sitout by East West pairs. The average score was 70. The winners: For North South pairs, in first with 75 points (53.57) were Trish Stimpson and Wendy Summer; in second with 73.5 points (52.5percent) were Gail Gamble and Lois Lang; and in third with 73 points (52.14 percent) were Carol Magowan and Harry Hall. For East West pairs there was greater separation. In first with 90.42 points (64.59 percent) were Vivian Sullivan and Janet Maus; in second with 78.75 points (56.25 percent) were Sue Norris and Bob Finn; and in third with 74.08 points (52.91 percent) were Peg Murphy and Anne Bates.

NORFOLK — Robert J. Pallone, 69, of Perkins St. passed away April 12, 2024, at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was a loving, eccentric CPA. He was kind and compassionate. If you ever needed anything, Bob would be right there. He touched many lives and even saved one.

Bob was born Feb. 5, 1955 in Torrington, the son of the late Joesph and Elizabeth Pallone.

The Cornwall Library unveiled its latest art exhibition, “Live It Up!,” showcasing the work of the late West Cornwall resident Joelle Sander on Saturday, April 13. The twenty works on canvas on display were curated in partnership with the library with the help of her son, Jason Sander, from the collection of paintings she left behind to him. Clearly enamored with nature in all its seasons, Sander, who split time between her home in New York City and her country house in Litchfield County, took inspiration from the distinctive white bark trunks of the area’s many birch trees, the swirling snow of Connecticut’s wintery woods, and even the scenic view of the Audubon in Sharon. The sole painting to depict fauna is a melancholy near-abstract outline of a cow, rootless in a miasma haze of plum and Persian blue paint. Her most prominently displayed painting, “Flowers,” effectively builds up layers of paint so that her flurry of petals takes on a three-dimensional texture in their rough application, reminiscent of another Cornwall artist, Don Bracken.

A Seder to savor in Sheffield

On April 23, Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will host “Feast of Mystics,” a Passover Seder that promises to provide ecstasy for the senses.

“’The Feast of Mystics’ was a title we used for events back when I was running The New Shul,” said Rabbi Zach Fredman of his time at the independent creative community in the West Village in New York City.
