Cecelia Delores (Tanner) Ralph

EAST CANAAN — Cecelia Delores (Tanner) Ralph, 67, passed away at home on Aug. 30, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.She was born in North Canaan on Aug. 2, 1944, the daughter of the late Bertha (McCauley) Tanner and Arthur Tanner Sr. of Millerton.She is survived by her loving husband, Richard G. Ralph, with whom on Oct. 14 they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Leona Riley and her husband, William, of Salisbury; her son Richard M. Ralph and his wife, Joel, of East Canaan; her seven grandchildren, Holli Dunlavey of Millerton, Kristen Culbreth of Sharon, Ashley Riley of North Canaan, Ashley Chance of Middletown, Jessica, Justin and Lauren Ralph of East Canaan; eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, and Maerin Dunlavey, Lilian, Elise, and Rhys Culbreth, Aubrey and Carter Nosal; her two brothers, Arthur Tanner Jr. and Charles Tanner; her six sisters, Alice Tweed, Lena Francis, Virginia Whitbeck, Gloria Stickles, Beverly Stickles and Diane Baker; and many nieces and nephews and close friends, who were touched by her love and generosity. She was predeceased by her sisters, Carol Call and Shirley Rivard. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association/Hospice, 30A Salmon Kill Road, Salisbury, CT 06068.

The attacks are starting early

Area Dems are starting early to attack Congressional candidate George Logan. An intelligent, articulate and genuinely nice man, Logan served two terms in the Connecticut Senate and is now running for the 5 th District Congressional seat currently held by Jahana Hayes.

In 2000, Ms. Hayes narrowly defeated Mr. Logan despite outspending him by a margin of 3 to 1.

Last December at the U.N. Environmental Conference in Dubai,U.A.E., one positive accomplishment was a document signed after much argument by representatives of each of the 197 countries attending the conference. For the first time, the individual countries pledged to “transition” away from fossil fuels toward cleaner sources of energy. And for the first time a U.N. document used the term “climate change”.
