Coyote Watch

SHARON -— When Nancy Zannini snapped this image of two animals on Drum Road in Sharon  on Tuesday, Jan. 29, she thought they might be coywolves, which are a mix of coyote, wolf and dog.  The experts at Sharon Audubon took a look at the image and said the animals are eastern coyotes.

Audubon Center Director Eileen Fielding said in an email that eastern coyotes “more or less by definition refer to a population of coyotes that’s had some wolf genes mixed in as they gradually spread eastward over the decades.
