SHARON — There were 42 people for duplicate bridge on Aug. 3 at Good Neighbors on Low Road in Sharon. With 10- and-a-half tables and three boards a round, 33 boards were in play. Because of that large number of deals, we stopped the play before the full cycle was completed. The average score was 84. The winners: For North South pairs, in first with 112.85 points (67.17 percent) were Jane and David Parshall; in second with 101.94 points (60.68 percent) were Trish Stimpson and George Mason; and in third with 92.35 points (54.97 percent) were Ann Patton and Mary Robertson. For East West pairs, in first with 99.05 points (58.96 percent) were Marcie Aiuvalasit and Jack Sillman; in second with 98.57 points (58.67 percent) were Linda and Bernard Dishy; and in third with 95.09 points (56.60 percent) were Marguerite McGrath and Jim Palmer.There were eight full tables for duplicate bridge on Aug. 10. We played four boards a round, so with a skip after four rounds, all pairs played 28 boards. The average score was 84. The winners: For North South players, in first with a huge score 114.5 points (68.15 percent) were Trish Stimpson and Norma Bartholomew; in second with 88.5 points (52.68 percent) were Mandy Jones and George Mason; and in third, below average as were all the rest of the North South pairs, with 80.5 points (47.92 percent) were Tom Burke and Harry Hall. For East West pairs, in first with 106.5 points (63.39 percent) were Sue Norris and Susan Lambrecht; in second with 99.0 points (58.93 percent) were Linda and Bernard Dishy; and in third with 89.5 points (53.27 percent) were Joan Turnure and John Neufeld.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”

A five-time Grammy winner, Cray has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned The Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance. He has played with blues and rock icons including Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and many more.

Cabaret comes to St. Andrew's in Kent

Music in the Nave will again tap into local talent April 6 at 7 p.m. when its features George Potts in an intimate cabaret concert in the St. Andrew’s Church parish house.

Pott is a well-known figure in the community, both through his presence in the perennially popular Fife ‘n Drum, the restaurant started by his father-in-law, renowned pianist Dolph Trayman, and through his own career as a folk musician.
