Cannon now owns vet practice

MILLERTON — Carolyn Cannon, who has worked at the Millerton Veterinary Practice (199 Route 44 East) for five years, has purchased the clinic from David Sandefer. The purchase was finalized June 30.Sandefer will continue to own and operate the Sand Road Animal Hospital in Falls Village.Cannon worked with Sandefer for more than 20 years before buying the Millerton office (which was previously owned by vet Kent Kay).“I love being the neighborhood vet here in Millerton,” said Cannon. “When I wanted to open my new practice, this is where I wanted to be. Ever since I started [in Millerton], it’s been a great experience for me.”Cannon, a holistic practitioner, is a certified animal chiropractor and is trained in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. She uses both alternative and traditional medical techniques to provide care for family pets.Cannon said she does not accept large animals as patients; she mostly works with cats, dogs, birds and “pocket pets,” such as gerbils.She said she plans to remodel the interior of the office to better suit the needs of her practice and her patients. “I plan to create a third exam room to facilitate a quiet space for acupuncture, chiropractic and laser therapy,” she said. “Our new class IV laser will aid in the treatment of arthritis, muscle aches and pains, wound healing and post surgical pain.”She offers nutritional consulting and animal dentistry and can perform surgery on location in the clinic’s operating rooms.The clinic is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The office is closed on Sundays. Area Dems are starting early to attack Congressional candidate George Logan. An intelligent, articulate and genuinely nice man, Logan served two terms in the Connecticut Senate and is now running for the 5 th District Congressional seat currently held by Jahana Hayes.

In 2000, Ms. Hayes narrowly defeated Mr. Logan despite outspending him by a margin of 3 to 1.

Environmental Conference in Dubai,U.A.E., one positive accomplishment was a document signed after much argument by representatives of each of the 197 countries attending the conference. For the first time, the individual countries pledged to “transition” away from fossil fuels toward cleaner sources of energy. And for the first time a U.N. document used the term “climate change”.
