Bringing light to darkness with menorah ceremony

SHARON — Participation in the annual lighting of the Hanukkah menorah on the Sharon Green doubled this year, with 12 people taking part in the ceremony on Sunday evening, Dec. 2. 

The menorah lighting ceremony began with Lynn Kearcher reading a brief history of the story of Hanukkah. 

She ended by saying, “Hanukkah is about transforming the negative to the positive. The holiday falls after nightfall, symbolically taking a dark cold environment and brightening it with candle light.
