Health Food Corner to celebrate five successful years

WINSTED — The Health Food Corner, located at 390 Main St., will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a party on Saturday, July 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.The store is owned and operated by husband and wife Bob and Sue Bailey.“Winsted is a vibrant town,” Bob Bailey said. “Our store is at the hub of the town, where everybody passes through. We have had great customers for the past five years, not just from Winsted, but also Colebrook, Norfolk, New Hartford, Riverton, Torrington and even from out of state.”The store offers a wide selection of organic food, juices, vitamins, supplements, bulk food items and all sorts of natural food products.“I think one of the reasons for our success is that we believe in what we do,” Bailey said. “Not only do we believe in what we sell, my family lives that natural foods lifestyle.”The party on July 23 will include vendors and free samples from the store itself.“We’re still on a quest to be cutting edge,” Bailey added. “The bottom line is all about quality. If that doesn’t speak to everything, nothing else does. Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
