Thanks for the warm clothing

On behalf of the parishioners of All Saints of America Orthodox Church in Salisbury, I would like to thank all the people of the Tri-state area who helped us with our winter clothing giveaway. The donations of warm clothing from the community were overwhelming.

Thank you also to the local social workers and schools for spreading the word. We had a record turnout! There were so many people and families who came out on a rainy Saturday that we lost count. We feel so blessed to be able to help others and to be in such a caring, loving community.

Fine music

Our area has many fine music offerings, but performances of the Salisbury Sinfonietta under the artistic direction of Jack Bowman are not to be missed. On Sunday, Nov. 4, the Salisbury Sinfonietta presented an all-Beethoven concert at the Salisbury Congregational Church. To hear the well-loved Overture to the Creatures of Prometheus, the astonishing Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, op. 61, with guest violinist Darwin Shen, and the great Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, op. 67 was phenomenal!

Please keep your eyes open for the next Salisbury Sinfonietta concert, a performance of the Christmas portions of Handel’s Messiah Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. at Norfolk UCC Church and Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Salisbury Congregational Church.

Salisbury’s own chamber orchestra will amaze and delight your ears and soul. Bravo, Salisbury Sinfonietta!

Thanks for eating with us at AFC

On Sunday, Oct. 21, the Amenia Fire Company held its monthly pancake breakfast. We were pleased to have a nice crowd of 201 people in attendance to enjoy a hearty meal.

We rely on the breakfasts to raise much-needed money for general operations and we always appreciate the support of the community.

We thank everyone who attends our meals throughout the year and we hope to see you again for the next one on Nov. 18.
