Thomas J. Killawee

NORTH CANAAN — Thomas J. Killawee, 89, passed away at The Wesley nursing home in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Aug. 29, 2018.

Thomas was born July 9,1929, to Mary and Bartholomew Killawee in North Canaan. 

He attended local schools and worked for the Canaan  Oil Co. for many years. Then he worked as a caretaker and as security personnel for the Salisbury School. He worked  as maintenance personnel for an apartment complex in Fishkill, N.Y. 

Thomas loved his old cars, radios, country music and hanging out in his two-car garage with a woodstove he built himself. He was very good at fixing lawnmowers, radios, bikes, you name it. It was his hobby in his life.                 

Thomas was predeceased by his father, Bartholomew, and his mother, Mary; his sisters, Catherine and Mary; his wife, Lucille Killawee; his son, Thomas Killawee Jr.; and his grandson, Timothy Muhl of Stonycreek, N.Y.  

Thomas is survived by his brother, John Killawee of North Canaan; his sons, Steve and Jeff Killawee; his daughters, Debra Muhl, Kimberly Stewart and Michelle Watson; many grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Ethan. 

He will be missed by family and many friends. 

There will be a burial service, date to be decided, at St. Joseph’s cemetery in North Canaan from noon to 1 p.m. Then there will be a get-together with refreshments at the Bitterman Center in North Canaan from 1 to 5 p.m.
