Domestic dispute leads to standoff, suicide in Wassaic


WASSAIC — Deputies from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office faced an unforeseeable tragedy on Friday, July 20, after responding to a 911 call on Old Route 22 in Wassaic.

At approximately 10:43 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a domestic dispute at 208 Old Route 22 that involved 37-year-old Chadd Ackerman, who was in possession of a firearm. 

While deputies responded, Dutchess County 911 dispatchers updated them to say the Ackerman had discharged the firearm. No one was reported injured as a result of the incident.
