CANAAN FIRE DISTRICT

Sewer use charges are due in a single payment on January 1, 2018 and within one month. Any portion unpaid after February 1, 2018 will become delinquent and subject to an interest charge of 1.5% per month. Payments may be made to the Tax Collector’s Office in the Town Hall at 100 Pease Street, North Canaan. During the month of January we will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9–12 and 1-4 PM, Closed Jan.1, 2017 open Mon Jan 29. All Town Hall offices are closed on Fridays. Payments may be mailed to 100 Pease St #5, North Canaan, Connecticut 06018. For your convenience a drop box for payments is located in front of the Town Hall. Pay online @ www.northcanaan.org. As soon as any tax becomes delinquent, it shall be subject to interest at the rate of one-half percent of such tax for each month or fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid. The minimum interest charge will be $2.00.

TOWN OF NORTH CANAAN

CONNECTICUT

Notice is hereby given to all taxpayers of the Town of North Canaan, Connecticut that the second installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2016 will become due and payable on January 1, 2018 and will become delinquent if not paid on or before 

February 1, 2018. The motor vehicle supplement bills for vehicles newly registered after October 1, 2016 will become due and payable January 1, 2018. If you have received a supplemental bill you are responsible to pay the 2nd half of your 2016 Grand List Motor Vehicle bill (received July 2017) also as well as the supplemental bill. They will become delinquent if not paid by February 1, 2018. 

As soon as any tax becomes delinquent, it shall be subject to interest at the rate of one and one-half percent of such tax for each month or fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid. The minimum interest charge will be $2.00. 

The Tax Collector’s Office is located in the Town Hall at 100 Pease Street, North Canaan, Connecticut. NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

Pursuant to Section 12-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes, notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the TOWN OF CORNWALL that the second half payment on the Grand List of October 1, 2016 is due January 1, 2018.

Supplemental Motor Vehicle Taxes are also due January 1, 2018, according to Section 12-71b for vehicles registered after October 1, 2016 and prior to August 1, 2017.

If tax payment is not paid on or before February 1, 2018, said tax will become delinquent as of that date and subject to interest at the rate of ONE AND ONE-HALF percent per month or fraction thereof from January 1, 2018 until tax is paid.  The minimum interest charge is $2.00.

Taxes may be paid at the Town Office on Mondays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on   Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM or sent by mail, addressed to:  Cornwall Tax Collector, P.O. TOWN OF SALISBURY CT

Pursuant to Sec 12-145 of the Connecticut State Statutes, the taxpayers of the Town of Salisbury are hereby notified that the third installment on the Grand List of October 1, 2016 is due and payable on January 1, 2018. Pursuant to Section 12-71b of the Connecticut State Statutes, the Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax is due on January 1, 2018. Payments must be received or postmarked by February 1, 2018. If said Real Estate, Personal Property and Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes are not paid on or before February 1, 2018, interest at the rate of one and one half percent (18% per year) will be added for each month or a fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid.  Minimum interest charge is $2.00.

TOWN OF KENT

The second installment of the Real Estate and Personal Property tax and the Motor Vehicle Supplemental tax for the Grand List of 2016 is due and payable January 1, 2018. The second installment of the Real Estate and Personal Property tax and the Motor Vehicle Supplemental tax for the Grand List of 2016 will become delinquent on Friday, February 2nd, 2018.

As soon as the tax becomes delinquent, it shall be subject to interest at the rate of one and a half percent per month from the time such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid.

The Tax Collector’s office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during the month of January.  Payment is also welcome through the mail at P.O. Box 311, Kent, Connecticut 06757.

Monday’s 9-12, 1-4 and  Wednesdays 9-Noon.

Payments must be received or postmarked by February 1, 2018 to avoid interest.

All taxes remaining unpaid after February 1, 2018 will be charged interest from January 1, 2018 at the rate of 1.5% for each month elapsing from the due date of the delinquent tax to the date of payment, with a minimum interest charge of $2.00. Sec. 12-146

NORFOLK — Robert J. Pallone, 69, of Perkins Street passed away April 12, 2024, at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was a loving, eccentric CPA. He was kind and compassionate. If you ever needed anything, Bob would be right there. He touched many lives and even saved one.

Bob was born Feb. 5, 1955, in Torrington, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Pallone.

The Cornwall Library unveiled its latest art exhibition, “Live It Up!,” showcasing the work of the late West Cornwall resident Joelle Sander on Saturday, April 13. The twenty works on canvas on display were curated in partnership with the library with the help of her son, Jason Sander, from the collection of paintings she left behind to him. Clearly enamored with nature in all its seasons, Sander, who split time between her home in New York City and her country house in Litchfield County, took inspiration from the distinctive white bark trunks of the area’s many birch trees, the swirling snow of Connecticut’s wintery woods, and even the scenic view of the Audubon in Sharon. The sole painting to depict fauna is a melancholy near-abstract outline of a cow, rootless in a miasma haze of plum and Persian blue paint. Her most prominently displayed painting, “Flowers,” effectively builds up layers of paint so that her flurry of petals takes on a three-dimensional texture in their rough application, reminiscent of another Cornwall artist, Don Bracken.
