Ruth H. Layton

STANFORDVILLE — Ruth H. Layton, 89, died Dec. 8, 2010, at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Mrs. Layton was born in   Clinton, N.Y., on April 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Alice (Wilson) and Charles Horton.

She was a teller for the Stissing National Bank in Stanford. Mrs. Layton was a member of the Bangall United Methodist Church, the Stanford Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary and the Pine Plains Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

On June 8, 1940, at the Bangall United Methodist Church, she married William L. Layton. He predeceased her on May 26, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, Duffy Layton of Stanfordville and James Layton and his wife, Jane, of Florida; a daughter, Gail Brightly of South Carolina; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Layton was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Wilson and Alfred Horton.

Arrangements are under the care of the Peck & Peck Funeral Home in Pine Plains. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Bangall United Methodist Church, the Rev. Steve Knutsen officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
