Walter C. Burcroff

GOSHEN — Walter C. Burcroff, 85, died Dec. 18, 2017, at his home. 

He was the beloved husband of Rebecca “Becky” (Breakell) Burcroff.

Mr. Burcroff was born in Sodus, N.Y., on March 18, 1932, son of the late Dora (Streeter) and Carl Burcroff, and had been a Goshen resident for the past 39 years. 

He was a retired teacher in the agricultural education department at Housatonic Valley Regional High School, retiring in 1987 with 32 years of service. 

After his retirement, he was employed as the zoning enforcement officer with the town of Morris, a position he held for 10 years. 

He was a life-member of the Connecticut and National Education Associations. Walter was a member of the Housatonic Valley FFA Alumni, National FFA Alumni, a member of the Connecticut River BMW Owners of America, Retreads Motorcycle Club, former president of the Northwest Connecticut Education Association, former vice president of the Litchfield County Retired Teachers Association and former chairman of the Northeast Sheep and Goat Genetics Marketing Alliance.

In addition to his wife, Rebecca “Becky,” he is survived by three sons, Jack Burcroff of Cornwall, Lawrence Burcroff and his wife, Jen, of Lakeville, and Erik Burcroff of Plainfield, Mass.; a daughter, Ellen Burcroff and her husband, Robert Anderson, of Sharon; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. 

Mr. Burcroff was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Burcroff.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at Bakerville United Methodist Church in New Hartford.
